Void vs. refund

An unpaid payment is cancelled, a successful one is returned (creating a reverse transaction).

An unpaid transaction can be cancelled, a successful payment can be returned. All on the transaction detail.

  1. 1
Cancel the transaction (void)The „Cancel the transaction“ button is available while the payment is in the „Awaiting payment“ state.
  2. 2
Return the payment (refund)For a payment „Completed successfully“ you use „Return the payment“. An inverse (reverse) transaction is created.

A refund by an employee has to be confirmed

When an employee creates a refund, a message appears saying the inverse transaction has to be confirmed from the merchant account. You will find it in the overview under „Pending reverse payments“.

Only a successful payment can be refunded and only an unpaid one cancelled. A payment already completed or cancelled cannot be paid again.
